Unilabs, the Swiss-based international laboratory diagnostics company, has
replaced its fax infrastructure with the Retarus Faxolution for
Applications. Every day, between 4,000 and 6,000 analyses are carried out
for the medical community and the results communicated by fax within 24 hours –
or even faster in the case of express orders. Since these documents contain
confidential information about patients, maximum data and transmission security
is absolutely essential. All laboratory analysis results, including patients'
laboratory histories, are transmitted as XML files from Unilabs' Laboratory
Information System (LIS) in encrypted form via FTP to the Retarus fax
infrastructure, from where they are faxed immediately – and with no capacity
bottlenecks – to the physician responsible. All data remains at Unilabs: Retarus

Blanco GmbH + Co KG is one of the world's leading producers of kitchen systems and equipment for private households. Its wide range of products includes high-quality sinks, fittings and waste separation systems. In addition to email, fax is an important means of communication for Blanco, especially for its internal sales force. Fax communications plays a very important role in a large number of sales and marketing departments. Faxes can be sent to a wide range of recipients speedily and inexpensively and fax machines are in most cases readily available at the receiving end. Unlike an email, a fax message almost always reaches its destination, since it will not be intercepted by spam filters. Its physical presence means that it attracts attention – and it cannot be deleted due to the "Subject" line like an email. Fax is also suitable for bidirectional communications. As towns and communities are no longer providing sufficient support, charitable organizations are increasingly looking to companies for funding. Year after year Retarus shows its commitment by making regular donations in kind and financial contributions, and by providing active support at events. Our social commitment focuses on supporting local initiatives and charity projects (Lichtblick Seniorenhilfe e.V., "Fluchtpunkt" Verein für Jugendpflege und Jugendhilfe e.V., Frauenhaus München gGmbH, H-Team e.V. - Wohnungserhalt, Münchner Tafeln e.V., Münchenstift GmbH). As the year draws to a close it is our particular pleasure to contribute toward making the Christmas celebrations of Lichtblick Seniorenhilfe and the Fluchtpunkt emergency accommodation merrier by donating Christmas trees. In addition, Retarus employees have contributed 22 days of voluntary work to various charity projects (e.g. summer parties and bicycle tours) and donated 11 bicycles. Thanks to Retarus’ global growth we have been able to increase the volume of donations by about 15% compared with last year.

In addition to using the messaging services Mail2Fax, Fax2Mail and Faxolution for Notes, Deutsche See GmbH has now decided to expand its use of Retarus communication solutions. With immediate effect Retarus Managed E-Mail Services will protect the German market leader in fish and seafood effectively against malware, phishing e-mails and spam. The company was convinced by Retarus’ range of services and the technical superiority of its e-mail security solution based on almost twenty years of Domino/Notes experience. Retarus’ data centers now process most of Deutsche See’s business-critical inbound and outbound electronic communications. The web-based Retarus Enterprise Administration Service (EAS) portal offers Deutsche See GmbH detailed reporting and monitoring functions, giving a clear picture of the effectiveness of all services used.

In order to concentrate on its core competencies more effectively and also to improve the availability and security of its e-mail systems, Freudenberg Household Products – better known under the Vileda brand name – is replacing its internally operated e-mail security solution with Retarus' cloud-based Managed E-Mail Services. Retarus has been nominated for the GreenIT Best Practice AWARD 2010 in the category "Energy Efficient IT Systems". The accolade, presented by the GreenIT-BB network, the Energy Innovation Center (IZE) of Berlin's Technical University, and various partners, includes awards for IT concepts for the resource- and energy-efficient operation of data centers. For years now, Retarus has been making a major contribution to the reduction of CO 2 emissions and costs. The awards ceremony and the presentation of the winning projects will take place in the Umspannwerk in Berlin Kreuzberg on November 3 as part of a special event which includes workshops and lectures about GreenIT.

With the newly enhanced reporting function for fax services, Retarus customers have even greater transparency and more control over their entire fax communications, e.g. all services used to transmit fax messages within a certain period of time. From Version 2.7 of the Enterprise Administration Service Portal (EAS) onward, it is now possible to check completed fax transactions in addition to monitoring current fax transmissions or jobs by way of Live Reporting. The sender can now see at once whether – and why – fax documents could not be delivered, allowing messages which have not reached their intended recipients to be re-sent immediately.

The recently launched Enterprise Message Retention and Managed Internet Security Services can now be administered and monitored by way of the new version of the Retarus Enterprise Administration Service Portal (EAS 2.7). Access to the Retention System is based on the "four eyes" principle, with transparency and traceability assured at all times. E-mail based business communications are stored in encrypted form, while powerful search functions ensure the rapid location of e-mails relating to important business transactions. In the new version 2.7 of the EAS portal the appearance and functions of the administration interface of Retarus Mail2SMS have been revised. Customers now have substantially more control, more flexible utilization options and more transparent billing. Users can now be entered by domain or profile. Configuration of the service is now easier and clearer, and it is also possible to bill per user. E-mail addresses can also be entered outside of a master domain. This is necessary, for example, if international subsidiaries or external employees who only have a webmail address are to use Retarus Mail2SMS.

Using the expanded reporting facilities for fax services, Retarus customers will have even more transparency and greater control over their fax communications, such as all the services used to send fax messages within a fixed period of time. In addition to monitoring fax transmission by means of Live Reporting, the introduction of Version 2.7 of the Enterprise Administration Service Portal (EAS) now also enables the checking of completed fax transactions. The sender can immediately see if a fax document has not been sent – and also the reason why – and can proceed to retransmit the fax to the recipient without delay.

The intelligent business fax solution for desktop and marketing applications is now also available in a 64 Bit Version with full Windows 7 support. The most significant new features include support for the latest Microsoft operating and server systems (including Windows Server 2008), in addition to direct support for Outlook address books and ODBC data sources (e.g. Access databases, ERP systems, CRM applications) to ensure easy access to existing contacts and address books. Despite the new functions, operating Faxolution for Windows remains as uncomplicated and convenient as always.

With Retarus Fax-to-email , incoming faxes are forwarded directly to one or more predefined e-mail addresses in the form of attachments. Now users also have the option of assigning a digital signature to each fax document. This signature allows recipients to prove beyond doubt that inbound fax documents have not been manipulated in any way. The digital signature serves to increase the security and trustworthiness of fax as a means of communication. In addition, digital signatures facilitate the direct archiving of documents - digitally received documents can be stored and archived directly or forwarded to a workflow system.
