A general agreement provides the BDA and its member associations with fast and unbureaucratic access to the services of the messaging experts Retarus. In total, almost 1,000 indirectly linked associations profit from the agreement. The reason for the cooperation is the decision by the BDA to switch from an internal mail security solution to Retarus.
BDA mails pass through the Retarus messaging infrastructure
The BDA has implemented Retarus RMX Managed E-Mail Services with immediate effect, and is already benefiting from significantly improved e-mail security: all inbound and outbound mails pass through the Retarus computer centres. Here, an average of 75% of all mails are already filtered out by the RMX Directory Filter. This prevents delivery of incorrectly addressed mails or mails generated randomly by spambots to non-existent recipients, and therefore reduces the workload of both the BDS mail infrastructure and that of its employees. Mails then pass through a multiple virus scan with RMX AntiVirus MultiScan, which detects and renders harmless viruses and other malcode. Any remaining spam mails are then intercepted by RMX AntiSpam. The upstream filters reduce the mail volume arriving at the BDA by up to 95 percent – only around 5 out of every 100 messages are actually business-relevant and are forwarded.
Security as a service
Retarus has full responsibility of operation and administration of the security infrastructure. The IT department of the BDA therefore no longer needs to worry about updates and configurations, but purchases e-mail security as a service that is invoiced on a monthly and user basis. Below the line, it is much less expensive and more efficient for the BDA to outsource this work to the specialists at Retarus than to invest in and maintain its own infrastructure. The outtasking solution provided by Retarus RMX Managed E-Mail Services means that a much higher percentage of dangerous e-mails that are not business-relevant are intercepted compared with the former internal BDA solution.

About the Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA)
The BDA, a confederation of associations, is the leading German industrial organisation. 54 associations from industry, trade, finance, transport, craft trades, the service industry and agriculture as well as 14 regional groups make up the direct members of the BDA. It therefore indirectly represents the interests of more than two million German companies in the areas of social, collective bargaining, education and labour market policy - both at home and on a European level. One of the central tasks of the BDA is ensuring comprehensive and fast exchange of information with its members and the public. In order to deal with this challenge professionally, the BDA requires a high-performance IT infrastructure that also links it to its member associations.
