The company’s 12 productive ERP systems generate approximately 50,000 fax pages every month, consisting of orders, delivery schedules and order confirmation messages. This huge volume of documentation can only be efficiently processed if the SAP systems are given immediate feedback regarding the status of document transmission. As a result, Fendt has decided to run its entire global fax communication through the first managed fax service to be certified by SAP, Retarus’ Faxolution.
Since 1997 Fendt has beeen a member of AGCO Corporation, globally the biggest producer of tractors, combine harvesters, forage harvesters and sowing drill machines, fertilizing machines and tilling machines. Fendt has been positioned within the group as the high-tech, high-performance brand. AGCO consistently relies on SAP solutions to enable it to control and manage its global activities. At its Marktoberdorf site, Fendt assembled 15,500 build-to-order units in 2008. In addition, all modules and parts – right down to the tiniest screw – had to be ordered and received from a large pool of suppliers at exactly the right time.
In accordance with the wide range of activities at Fendt, a multitude of processes are necessary: orders, delivery notifications and order confirmations. In order to send the documents created by its ERP system, AGCO/Fendt originally used a fax server solution with multiple channels. As the volume of daily orders rose from two to three thousand, this solution was not able to keep pace with the company’s requirements. In contrast, Retarus Faxolution for SAP allows the entire transmission of faxes from SAP to be outsourced. Rather than providing their own cable and server capacity, AGCO/Fendt can now send fax tasks directly to the Retarus computer center, from where they can be sent reliably at any time around the clock. Retarus Faxolution for SAP ensures that fax documents can be sent with certainty and speed at all times, without the risk of bottlenecks occurring. The same applies to e-mail traffic sent from SAP via Retarus‘ Mail for SAP, including a legal disclaimer. At the same time all fax processed are automatically reported back to Fendt’s SAP system, making the processes highly transparent at all times.
