The BT EDI*Net, which is currently used by Ford for electronic data exchange, will be deactivated as of 12/31/2009. The X.400 Protocol used until now will no longer be supported and all suppliers must rely on OFTP for EDI connections in the future. OFTP connections may either be established directly using the corresponding software or via a Ford Certified VAN Provider. When connecting through a Certified VAN Provider, suppliers will be able to maintain their established X.400 connections to Ford, eliminating the need for cost-intensive system upgrades.
