Georg Hartmann was born in 1952. After training as a commercial banking clerk, he studied economics at St. Gallen Technical University, specializing in marketing. He has more than 30 years' professional experience in the information and communications technology sector: before joining Retarus he was a Team Leader with Computer Associates, a Sales Manager Global Services with Xerox, and a Regional Sales Manager with RedHat. More recently, he served as Country Manager for the Swiss business operations of BEA Systems, a leading international provider of middleware solutions.
