Retarus one of Bavaria's best
Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs presents award to Retarus
Munich, 27 July 2012 // Retarus GmbH has been specially honored by Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology, Martin Zeil, in connection with the "Bavaria's Best 50" competition. The award is presented to enterprises which have increased their workforces and sales revenues to an above-average extent over the past five years, demonstrating powerful growth during that period. Retarus is one of just five technology and communications companies to receive the award this year.
As Martin Hager, founder and CEO of retarus GmbH, explained during the awards ceremony in the Emperor's Hall (Kaisersaal) of the Residenz Palace in Munich: "It goes without saying that we are very proud indeed to have been selected for this award by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs. We are particularly pleased to have been granted the award in the twentieth year of our existence as a company. For us this is proof that the basic principles of our corporate policy are acknowledged and appreciated by independent bodies. Sustainable organic growth, constant innovation, and a systematic focus on ensuring that our personnel are highly trained and gain in-depth experience – all these factors have given us a clear competitive edge over our national and international competition. This accolade is a further incentive for us to continue the strategy we have been pursuing."

The principal criteria applied in the assessment of participants in the competition are above-average growth in sales revenues, earnings and workforce size in the course of the preceding five years. During this period retarus GmbH almost doubled the number of employees in Munich. The average annual increase in personnel since 2007 has been 16.5 percent, while over the same period average annual sales growth has been approximately 12.3 percent. At the same time, the training of new employees plays a pivotal role at retarus GmbH. The number of staff in training at the firm's Munich facility at any time is between six and seven percent.
When launching this year's competition, Minister Martin Zeil stressed the point that successful entrepreneurial activity is by no means an end in itself – rather, it is the basis for the success of the society as a whole. "Entrepreneurs whose sense of responsibility for their company and workforce keeps driving them on to seek new opportunities for growth and employment and who seize these opportunities systematically are the cornerstone of our social market economy. Accordingly, they make a major contribution to the economic prosperity of our state, which in turn forms the basis of our high living standard here in Bavaria."
The "Bavaria's Best 50" competition, which was held for the eleventh time this year, is open to small and mid-sized enterprises based in the Free State of Bavaria. By organizing this competition, the Bavarian state government is not only pursuing the aim of honoring outstanding achievements by SMEs, but also creating an incentive for other business startups. RölfsPartner, a Munich-based auditing and consulting firm, was commissioned to act as independent juror during the competition.
