Retarus Attachment Blocker is a proven tool that protects your network from emails with malicious attachments or dangerous file formats. In a previous blog post<\/a>, we explained why consistently blocking certain file types, regardless of threat detection outcomes, plays a crucial role in any email security strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re excited to share more on this topic, as promised, because the completely revamped Retarus Attachment Blocker<\/strong> is now available \u2013 with a substantial number of additional functions to provide more control, higher security and maximum flexibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Full control: Manage inbound and outbound emails centrally<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One key enhancement in this updated version is the ability to manage rules for both inbound and outbound emails directly within the Retarus myEAS<\/strong> admin portal \u2013 from a single location, now featuring a clean, user-friendly design. This gives companies the opportunity to transparently implement their security guidelines \u2013 not only for blocking inbound threats, but also for preventing the outbound transmission of file types deemed sensitive or undesirable.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Specifying outbound rules in the Attachment Blocker improves compliance and supports the implementation of internal guidelines. Unintended data outflow can effectively be prevented, for instance, by blocking the possibility to share certain file types used in applications with purely internal purposes \u2013 file types containing sensitive information which should never be sent via email. The transmission of ZIP archives can also be blocked to prevent high volumes of data being sent out via email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One particularly useful feature is the ability to configure outbound rules with a high degree of granularity \u2013 at domain, group or even individual user level. This enables specific departments, for instance, to continue sending certain document types, while their transmission is blocked for other parts of the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beta version now available \u2013 official roll-out at the end of Q3<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new Attachment Blocker is now available as a beta version. Customers interested in early access can contact their regular Retarus support representative. Within Retarus myEAS, users can easily switch between the previous and new interfaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
