Our solution is compatible with all SMTP-based systems – including Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Microsoft Exchange, and HCL Notes Domino. No additional hardware or software is required. We support established standards such as S/MIME and OpenPGP (X.509 v3, including your own certificates), ensuring your messages always use the latest security technology.

Thanks to centralized key management and the Outlook add-in, sending encrypted emails is simple and efficient. Employees can encrypt and send messages directly from Outlook with a single click. When domain-based rules are configured, encryption and decryption happen automatically, with no additional costs or effort for users.

The innovative USE function enables you to automate the management of users, groups, certificates and organization-specific encryption policies. This keeps your encryption processes always up to date.

Your connection to our infrastructure is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS). An optional VPN connection is available to add an extra layer of protection for the “last mile”. Our encryption solution integrates seamlessly with other Retarus services, such as Email Security and Email Archive, enabling comprehensive protection.

Can I use Retarus Email Encryption and Retarus Email Archive in combination?

Yes – and it's especially beneficial. When used together, encrypted emails are automatically decrypted upon receipt and then re-encrypted using the archive master key. This ensures compliant archiving and long-term readability – even if employees leave or keys are no longer available.
