My team and I have identified five key trends that will shape digital business communication over the next years. These developments reflect technological advances as well as corporate social responsibility and accountability.
Trend 1: Automating critical communications
The current combination of a challenging economic climate, rising costs and a shortage of qualified staff creates a dangerous cocktail for businesses. Process automation has become a key success factor. Innovative messaging solutions support companies in achieving digital transformation and automation – thus laying the foundations for leaner, more efficient processes. One way to remain competitive is the reduction of costs by migrating to digital fax and automated document processing.
Trend 2: Using AI where it makes sense
Artificial Intelligence is probably the one topic that is on everybody’s mind these days. At the same time, considering the dizzying array of AI-based solutions on the market, it is not always clear whether AI really provides any additional benefit in every case. When opting for an AI-supported solution for their business communication, companies should consider the specific use case for their business. At Retarus, we only apply Artificial Intelligence where it truly adds value for our customers.
Trend 3: Strengthening cybersecurity measures
Cyberattacks are growing in number and sophistication, with AI playing a major role in both enhancing security measures and enabling malicious actors. Increasingly professional cybercriminals and new requirements set by regulations impose a whole raft of challenges for companies. They must respond by re-evaluating and strengthening their IT security management regimes. This is especially true for business-critical communication: to stay as safe as possible, companies need secure solutions that comply with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
Trend 4: Leaving hybrid cloud environments behind
While hybrid IT landscapes are not uncommon, seamless integration across diverse IT environments is key to harnessing the full potential of new technologies. This presents an opportunity to reassess distributed legacy systems. Such systems can be replaced with cloud messaging solutions to enable more efficient communication. With the help of a SaaS messaging provider, different channels such as SMS, email and fax can be easily connected and adapted to changing conditions. Additionally, cloudification often results in significant cost savings. A broad array of interfaces including REST APIs, SOAP and SMTP offers the flexibility needed to integrate hybrid environments.
Trend 5: Being ready for even more complex compliance regulations
Companies must deal with new technologies in a conscious, responsible manner. They consequently need to meet the most demanding security and data protection requirements. Solutions suitable for corporate communication provide high levels of transparency and control while also fulfilling stringent compliance requirements like HIPAA, all backed up by clearly defined SLAs. This helps companies meet ever-increasing data protection requirements and create a sound basis for employing new technologies.
