EagleBurgmann optimizes its ordering processes with Retarus
Increased supply chain efficiency thanks to Retarus WebConnect for Suppliers

EagleBurgmann, a global leader in the provisioning of sealing technology solutions, has successfully optimized its processes for working with class C suppliers. The introduction of Retarus WebConnect for Suppliers has enabled the company to reshape its EDI infrastructure, reduce the complexity of its IT service providers, and boost the efficiency of its ordering processes. EagleBurgmann has now automated the receipt of more than 98 percent of its inbound order confirmations. The documents are also captured in the system considerably faster than previously.
EagleBurgmann supplies around 45,000 customers in more than 80 countries with high-quality mechanical seals for use in a wide range of industrial plants and facilities. Using Retarus WebConnect for Suppliers, the sealing technology specialist is now able to automatically process a large number of orders and order confirmations. The new solution, moreover, allows the respective expert departments to add new suppliers quickly, without incurring additional costs and with minimal effort on the part of the company’s IT department.
Idoc extensions implemented successfully
Retarus had already implemented its EDI process for larger suppliers at EagleBurgmann several years earlier. For its smaller suppliers however, EagleBurgmann had still been using custom-built WebEDI software from another provider, which fed into Retarus’ existing interface. The aim was for Retarus WebConnect for Suppliers to replace that existing WebEDI solution. As part of the new solution design, EagleBurgmann needed to extend the SAP document type Idoc ORDERS05 by adding new fields that had previously been defined. Once the test and pilot phases had been completed successfully, the solution was rolled out into production. The remaining suppliers were then integrated into the new solution and onboarded individually.
Stable processes lead to high acceptance
The new solution and adapted processes were predominantly met with high rates of acceptance from EagleBurgmann’s staff. Retarus was able to impress EagleBurgmann by ensuring a dedicated contact person for the project, quick communication and implementation, and fast response times.
“The system and process are running with a high degree of stability. An order confirmation rate of over 98 percent speaks for itself,” says Ute Bätz, IT Operations, IT & Process Management at EagleBurgmann. The company’s plan for the future is to add two or three more suppliers to the system by way of EDI or WebConnect each year. In addition, EagleBurgmann intends to use the WebConnect process to hook up more country organizations to the S/4HANA system.
