Retarus Press Release:
Retarus and Palo Alto Networks partner to deliver Secure email communication from European data centers
Munich, 06.02.2019 // The WildFire® malware prevention technology from Palo Alto Networks is now part of Retarus’ comprehensive email security portfolio. The global information logistics company has chosen the “WF-500” appliance to provide customers with an even higher level of security as part of its Advanced Threat Protection, or ATP, capabilities.
Retarus has developed its very own infrastructure offering using WildFire appliances from Palo Alto Networks. The company currently operates one of the largest “WF-500” farms in Europe with data centers in Munich and Frankfurt am Main.
“Email is and will remain the main gateway for IT threats in businesses around the globe. We are therefore constantly looking for ways to better protect our customers from current risks. Sandboxing is a central component of our holistic e-mail security approach,” explains Roland Augustin, vice president strategy at Retarus. “Following the successful integration of the WildFire devices into our services, we have a strong relationship with Palo Alto Networks.”
“The partnership with Retarus marks the beginning of a promising cooperation in the European market, which is extremely important to us. Operation of the WF-500 in Retarus’ data centers in Germany is an important signal to companies in Europe who have a high level of security awareness in the light of new data protection regulations,” comments Frank Kölmel, vice president for Central Europe at Palo Alto Networks.
The Palo Alto Networks WF-500 WildFire private cloud appliance complements WildFire cloud-based threat intelligence with on-premises analysis and automated orchestration of zero-day threat prevention and malware prevention. The appliance’s private cloud architecture enables organizations to meet privacy and regulatory requirements. Customers benefit from the common threat information of all WildFire subscribers and the associated protective measures.
The Retarus Email Security Service blocks sophisticated malware, such as viruses, ransomware and other threats like phishing and CxO fraud. It can be adapted to the individual security requirements of the customer. Customers using WildFire “on-premises” can also benefit from the additional security features of Retarus E-Mail Security. Retarus offers a total of three e-mail security packages, including administration and analysis functions as well as additional compliance services such as gateway-based encryption.
As a specialized Managed Security Services Provider, Retarus has access to Palo Alto Networks Security Operating Platform, which collects and shares global threat intelligence from over 26,000 WildFire customers. Retarus, therefore, no longer has to send files that are already identified as malicious to the sandbox. Retarus accelerates the examination of suspicious file attachments and thus significantly reduces the time to deliver email messages to its customers. Sandboxing is one of four new security mechanisms from which Retarus has put together the ATP package for Retarus email security. The other three are Deferred Delivery Scan, Time-of-Click Protection and CxO Fraud Detection.
With its outstanding solutions and services, intelligent infrastructure, and patented technology, Retarus manages communication for companies worldwide. Retarus’ state-of-the-art technologies, highly available data centers, and innovative cloud messaging platform offer maximum security, maximum performance, and business continuity. With experience in steering information flows at the enterprise level, Retarus ensures that information is transferred securely and reliably to the right place, at the right time, in the right format—since 1992 and with now 15 subsidiaries on four continents. Seventy-five percent of DAX 30, half of all EURO STOXX 50, and 25 percent of S&P100 companies rely on Retarus services.
