B. Braun Relies on Retarus for Secure Faxing

B. Braun SE is a German pharmaceutical and medical supplies company based in Melsungen, Hesse. It is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of medical technology and pharmaceutical products and in 2025, with a good 66,000 employees, achieved a turnover of over 9 billion euros, more than 80 percent of which was generated abroad.
Braun had many different fax servers from various manufacturers in use in Germany before the introduction of Retarus Cloud Fax. Different connections, very individual processes and EOL scenarios led to a lack of transparency and overview.

A central fax solution was therefore sought for Germany in 2019. At the time, Retarus Cloud Fax was already in use at B. Braun in Austria and Asia. Due to the good experience there, Retarus was also awarded the contract for Germany. The implementation took just a few weeks due to the existing experience on both sides.

In addition to integrating the desktop workstations via Mail-to-Fax and Fax-to-Mail, B. Braun’s SAP system was also integrated via Retarus Faxolution for SAP. The configuration for this was implemented by the administrators at B. Braun together with technical experts from Retarus and was completed without any problems.

During the introduction, it turned out that the transmission speed was set too high. Since this was adjusted, the system has been running smoothly. No special training was required for the staff. After the Cloud Fax changeover, B. Braun was able to dismantle the old fax servers and terminate the associated old contracts.

In 2024, the Cloud Fax contracts in the individual countries were consolidated into one main contract that combines all numbers and services.

Retarus’ fax services are available to all employees. They are used particularly intensively in the incoming orders department and by the legal department. Since B. Braun continues to receive many orders by fax, a modern solution such as Retarus Cloud Fax facilitates further processing.

B.Braun can continue to use and offer fax services to its customers thanks to Retarus Cloud Fax. The rollout is currently underway at other national companies where the current solution has reached its limits or would entail high costs for an update/new contracts.
Furthermore, further standardization of the fax solution used simplifies operations and creates transparency. This saves time and money.
